Discontinued Redhat / Fedora Upgrade Procedure




Here’s a simple step you can take to increase your server's reliability and security. Benefit by switching your operating system to CentOS, a trusted, open-source system. Re-imaging will wipe your server clean, make sure to make a back up of all information before starting this important switch to CentOS.


What has changed in the last few years?

Redhat 7.2 - 9.0 – discontinued in 2003 and later formed into Fedora.

Fedora Core 2 - 6 – discontinued as of December 2007. These releases no longer receive updates from the Fedora foundation. Servers which are still running these operating systems may be vulnerable if unmaintained over the years.


What is Cent OS:

Our current operating system of choice, based on the Redhat/Fedora projects but targeted at enterprise users. As such, it is maintained for many years after the initial release. This operating system should be be considered for all new installations and upgrades.
