How do I import my data into my database using phpMyAdmin?


For Linux packages only!Linux Packages Only!
      This includes:
          arrow 1&1 Beginner (Linux)
          arrow 1&1 Home (Linux)
          arrow 1&1 Business (Linux)
          arrow 1&1 Developer (Linux)
          arrow 1&1 Dedicated Website Servers (formerly called managed servers)





Step 1:

Log in to the 1&1 Control Panel using your Customer ID OR domain name and your password at: http://admin.1and1.com

If you have only one package, you will land on the Administration page. If you have more than one package, select the Packages tab at the top. Select the package in question to reach its Administration page.

Step 2:

Click the icon for MySQL Administration from the Web Space & Access section.

Click the phpMyAdmin button for the database in question.

Step 4:

This will launch a new window where the phpMyAdmin for your database has been setup. At the top left, click on the SQL icon (this will also open in a new window).

Click on the Import files tab.

Click the Browse... button to browser your computer for the file to import. Please take note of the maximum file size for the import file to the right of the Browse... button.

Step 7:

Locate the SQL file on your computer that you would like to import and then click the Open button.

Step 8:

As long as the file does not exceed the maximum file size limit, you may now click the Go button to import the database. If you are unsure of the file size, phpMyAdmin will report an error if the file is too large.

If your datatbase file can not be imported via phpMyAdmin because of a large file size, you may import the database file via SSH if your package comes with SSH access. Please reference the following link for more information - How do I import a MySQL database using SSH?
